1st Day
Reception of students and teachers from Poland and Turkey. Then the students of each country made a presentation about the concept of social empathy. Then, divided into multicultural groups, the students created posters about the problems arising from the lack of empathy. Finally, crossing the neighborhood of the school, we arrived at a local restaurant, for our first meal together.
2nd Day
In order to facilitate the understanding of Greek culture and the visits that were planned , a History Teacher of our school presented the main factors that contributed to the formation of the ancient Greek culture. Then we took the metro to the center of Athens. This was followed by a guided tour of the Acropolis (Herodion, Erechtheum, Areios Pagos, Parthenon). Our day ended with wandering around Monastiraki and eating in a traditional tavern.
3rd Day
The ‘Theatre of the Oppressed’ on the topic of combating racism dominated: the students created scenarios with issues related to the treatment of their immigrant classmates at school. This was followed by the presentation of the students’ view of each country regarding a world full of empathy. The day ended with traditional dances and food offered by the parents of the hosting students.
4th Day
The day started with watching experiments in the Chemistry Lab. Then we took a bus to the Archaeological Museum, after crossing the city of Athens. After the guided tour of the Museum, we walked and had lunch in the historical center of Athens.
5th Day
On the 5th day the participants visited the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio and then we drove to the city of Lavrio where we had lunch. After returning to school, participants filled in questionnaires related to the effectiveness of the meeting in the school lab and were given certificates and souvenirs of their visit.
